New reads and a little eye candy

Well, I finished work for today and I just had to write about a favorite topic of mine before I veggie it out with hubby. Favorite topic (number ?) ...books.
The other day my sister was talking about visiting a great book store and it reminded me of how much I love to browse through book stores, but since there is so little time to do those things lately, I catch myself browsing through amazon a lot.  I love books, be it novels or how-to books.

I also forgot how much I enjoyed exploring in our local library and taking with me as many books as my old cloth bag could handle. I think I have already checked out all of the home decorating and artsy books they have available, but then again, I haven't been there in a while...guess it's time to hit the library again (whenever the working my buttuga off phase calms to a slower pace)! Just think for one little annual registration fee, you get a years supply of an entire book store! That's great when you have to save...I really love my library...but sometimes you have to get something new and our library at least does not carry the newest of the newest.

So I go amazon surfing, not only because they have the newest editions, but here I can get all the English books I want. (I'm starting to sound like a commercial) I shouldn't be allowed to surf amazon because I can't be stopped. These are my newest aquisitions:

1) The Martha Stewart Encyclopedia of Crafts.  Don't ask me why, I have no time for creating anyway, but I love to oogle and aagle over the crafty stuff.  If I ever do have time though, I will have the non-plus-ultra of crafting advice on hand.

2) Meine Bunte Welt by Bine Brändle, she's my kinda gal, I just adore her style and her way of creating. Lot's of eye candy and it makes me want to go all out in colors.

3) The Use It Up Cook Book, finally got this one...took a while but it eventually arrived. Haven't had time to browse this one, but I'm looking forward to trying out some recipes with left-overs. This will be a keeper because it cost me an arm and a leg, discontinued edition, whatever but it got good reviews.

4) The More-with-Less Cookbook....can you tell I'm into cooking and saving money at the same time? Well, I'm trying my best, but right now we are depending a lot on take out and quick frozen pizzas and my hubby's ability to cook a great meal with hardly anything in the house...but that is another story. This book has lots of ideas from people all over, can't wait to try out some of these recipes.

BTW, my hubby hardly ever uses a recipe, he does it from memory of his Mom's dishes, now that's what I call talent! I on the other hand, can't even remember what ingredients go into a simple cake or waffle recipe...I have to look each time. Well to each his own...I'll stick to the books.

Have a great week everyone!

Siggie
