Thought ya'll could use a little Stevie Ray Vaughan! I'm a big fan of certain music ... it's not about putting people on a pedestal, it's about enjoying the talent that they were given and seeing it as a gift to us. There is not one time in my life that music hasn't helped me. If you have a few minutes to spare, i'd like to share one of my favorites:
Stevie Ray taught me something along the way. Here's the story: Sis and I saw Stevie Ray in Stuttgart at a concert, it was unbelievable, one of those events that you never forget! We were right up by the stage, rockin and rollin, we even had our jackets resting on the stage because it got really hot during the jam! Anyway, after moving to Austin in 1990 I figured I could see Stevie more often because they were always in town. But the first concert they had there I skipped because, well, like I said I thought I could catch another one anytime. Shortly after that, Stevie died in a helicopter crash.
I don't want to make light of this tragic event, but that taught me that whenever there is something you really want to do, just go out and do it and don't wait for a second chance because you may never get that second chance. So there are life lessons to be learned through music. Which brings me back to the point that music (and all the other little niceties in life) is a gift to us from above to be enjoyed for the pure pleasure of it. Wouldn't you agree?
