Imprisonment you'll find

~ Blackmore's Night ~

After our little fun event on Sunday with the weather just keeping dry enough to grill some and sit outside for awhile (so thankful for that), the weather has decided we need more rain and that means no working outside like I had planned. So I will be doing my "inside" things today like getting some sewing done.

To rev myself up for the sewing I thought I'd share something I made for Chris out of some sweatshirts that no one was wearing anymore. I have been meaning to do more posts on crafty things and well, this project is as good as any to start.

I was inspired to make this blanky by my niece Jen in the US, who showed us a neat way to make a blanket by using 2 large pieces of fleece material. The idea popped into my head that I could use all those sweatshirts we had been given and I've been saving.

I had a dark blue fleece blanket tucked away somewhere and thought it would be warmer with a second layer. So I cut up the sweatshirts into large squares, sewed them together into a larger square and sewed the fleece blanket and this large sqaure of sweatshirts together, turned it right side out and "quilted" the blanket for stability and...viola... a very warm and cuddly blanket! This is a great idea for any sweaters that just don't fit anymore or that no one wears anyway. Before you give them away, think of another way you could use them.

I'd say that this project falls under the category of very very easy sewing projects. Even if you think you have no sewing ability, you can get this baby made.

  1. So, Sis who has the blanket or is it for whoever is chold at the time. It looks real good. That is such a great idea I would have never thought about it!
