March and all its colors

We are nearing the end of March and spring is temperature-wise nowhere around. There are little signs of spring though, the sun came out today and little crocus' are sprouting up in the lawn we planted last year. I am so looking forward to being out in the yard again to take up the work that we put down last October and get the bottom part of our lot finished.

We've got 3 major projects for planned for this year:

1) Remodeling our attic room for our son. There are still so many things to do there like insulating certain parts that the previous owners didn't (in process), electrical wiring, putting in a new window, sanding the existing woodwork and painting everything white, putting in wood laminate flooring.

2) Finishing the bottom part of our lot. Cementing a “fence” and leveling the ground there, planting shrubs, building a small garden shed.

3) Finishing the terrace area. The balcony needs a new railing, the used steel beams need to be sanded, painted and built up. This is planned for a future winter-garden, so we can sit outside when the weather is cold (which it is about 7 months out of the year). After the terrace has a roof, we plan on putting wood down on the terrace.

We are hoping to get all this done within this year, no doubt a great deal of optimism is needed to believe we will actually get half of these things finished! Sounds like a whirlwind of activity! But we've already realized a great deal more than we though we would have, so I'm pretty confident about it.

Hubby brought me a bouquet of roses upon my arrival back home and I couldn't resist taking a few snapshots of them. I needed some color with all the brown and gray outside in the last weeks. So here are a few snapshots and jots of color.

Small colorful candles always lift my spirits on a gray day:

Enjoy the days of sunshine left, we here in Germany are in for another round of sleet and snow this weekend so if you are in my neck of the woods enjoy the warming sun while it's here! I'm off to figure out what to make for lunch...
