Merry Christmas!

Archie didn't seem too excited to be playing Santa, but we though we'd try.

Not only are we celebrating Christ's Birthday tonight and tommorrow, but this is the month of Birthdays in our family as well. Happy Birthday Chris, Emanuel and Archie!

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming...

What's so great about the holidays for me? Well first of all and most important, it's my time to reflect on Jesus and what He has done for me, that's personal but alas, it is the most important.

Second, time to spend at home with family... talking, playing, cooking, walking. Gee, it's been a while. We've had an extremely busy time this past year and I think we are all looking forward to sharing some time together.

Shhh, don't tell anyone in my family, but I got us the boxed set of all of C. Dicken's movie classics. Hey I really splurged on that one, but I'm already looking forward to sitting down in the late evening with a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows and watching Oliver Twist (dieting will have to wait). Actually it's ok to tell my boys because they don't get as excited about the things I get excited about! Hubs will take his extra time and plan for next years renovating strategy and our "little" one will try to find dry places to skateboard at. (We need an indoor skateboard park around here)

While our nuclear family will be together, my Mom and Sis along with her family is way way off across the ocean and we will be thinking of them especially this year. Our nephew will be getting radiation treatments around Christmas, so another big dose of faith is in order. Bless thee, my family for I love you all.

Greetings to all my friends who read this also, I don't know if I'll get to blogging much the next few days, so if you don't here from me just know you're in my thoughts and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Just in case you're interested, I put up some new pics on my travelog.

Advent days

In Germany, the Advent season begins four weeks before Christmas and most Germans have what is called an Adventkranz (wreath). Each Sunday a new candle is lit until on the last Sunday before Christmas eve, all four candles burn.

I've decided to be lazy this year and made a makeshift Adventskranz using a Christal cake plate, 4 candles and some decorative pine cones. You can get really adventerous here. Last year my sister-in-law and I got together and we crafted some really nice ones for our own use, but this year time got the best of us so I just made do with what I had around the house.

If you Google in pictures "Adventskranz", you'll find most interesting ones out there. Here's a pic of mine to get you into the spirit.

Have a great Advent season everyone and let the light fill your heart with joy.
